Dirty Little Secrets

So your family is piling up the laundry, dirty dishes are waiting for you in the sink, and your children ran through the mud and tracked it through the house. You’d think this would all put you over the edge, driving you into the depths of despair.

You will never be able to get it all done, let alone have any spare time for yourself.

But you’ve got to put away these negative thoughts, and look at things in a new light. Just tell your kids (and your spouse) to go at it … get in there and make those messes. Cheer them on even.

As the debris start accumulating, you stay relaxed and take it all in stride. After all, you know how to keep your cool. In fact, snacks and juice all around! Anything for your family.
The most important thing is that they are having fun. Or so you can let them believe.

Let’s be honest, this is really all for you.

A house full of wreckage can be to your benefit, you’ve just got to know how to take advantage of the situation. As parents, we don’t always have time to hit the gym every day, or go for that run, whether you’re home with the kids, or stuck at work all day. But don’t get down on yourself, you can stay healthy just by doing more at home. They don’t call it housework for nothing.

Now all you need is your playlist, and you are ready to go.

For instance, did you know you can burn approximately 100 calories for 30 minutes of vacuuming or vigorous cleaning? Heck, you can even burn calories washing dishes. Shhh … it’s our dirty little secret.

So crank that music and get down there and scrub those floors like your hind end is on the line … because let’s face it, it is. I’ve found I’ve never been so eager to clean a toilet in my life. With three boys, and four toilets, let’s do the math, and just say, I clean toilets all the time. Burn baby, burn. Overflow on the bathroom floor, no problem. Cheerios under the sofa cushions, awesome! Leftover Jello stuck to the kitchen floor, how thoughtful of your children. It’s so nice to know they really care about you.

My house has never sparkled as much … at the least for the moment. Luckily, for me, the kids are constantly bringing it back to its former state of chaos.

The kicker is, while the family loves your new attitude, all you know is that you look and feel great. You are super mom (or dad) after all.
